French Translation Practice
Translation rewards accuracy and natural word order – not word-by-word calques.
Method
1. Read full sentence for meaning
2. Identify tense and person
3. Check gender/number agreements
4. Watch false friends (actuellement, librairie…)
Practice habit
Translate both directions.
Then check against a model and note recurring errors.
Worked example
Translate: ‘I have always loved music.’
Solution: J’ai toujours aimé la musique.
